When you only have a finite amount of time to experience Chicago, you have to make the tough decision of choosing between the myriads of tours available. There are hop-on-hop-off tours, river cruises, kayaking tours, etc…

Chicago is situated along the southwestern corner of Lake Michigan, with an incredible lakefront trail and a relatively flat topography. So, in my mind, the best way to see the city is on a bicycle.

On a beautiful, breezy, sunny Saturday, I found myself cycling down the streets of downtown Chicago with Bobby’s Bike Hike Chicago’s “Bikes, Bites & Brews Tour”.

Bobby’s Bike Hike Chicago is located at 540 N. Lake Shore Drive, a stone’s away from Navy Pier, where the tour began and finished.

Over the next 4 hours, my new bike pal “Doug” and I, along with 15 other adventurous souls and their bike pals covered 18 exhilarating miles, stopping only to enjoy the finest Chicago has to offer in food…

Even though the Wizard of Oz, (written by L. Frank Baum), was rumoured to have been inspired by the 1893 Chicago’s world fair, it is clear that today, both Dorothy and I are not in Kansas anymore.
